It’s going to be a cool, wet Thursday for much of western Newfoundland with temperatures from Stephenville to St. Anthony registering highs of just 13 C and much of the region expecting five to 10 millimetres of rain.
The rain should end in the Corner Brook and Stephenville areas around midday, but will persist in the Deer Lake and Gros Morne areas into tonight. Showers will be expected today and tonight along much of the Northern Peninsula, although the St. Anthony vicinity will be mostly cloudy with some sun peeking through.
It should be milder to the south with a high of 18 C expected in the Port aux Basques area today. The rain will start in southwestern Newfoundland around noon with about 10 millimetres expected today and as much as 20 more millimetres tonight.
It will be windy throughout the region with northeasterly winds gusting to 50 kilometres per hour for most parts. Easterly winds may gust to 70 kilometres per hour in the Wreckhouse area of southwestern Newfoundland early this evening.
