The Humber Valley has seen record breaking temperatures in July and now into August. Many visitors and residents in the town of Deer Lake have taken to “jumping in the lake” to cool off. The lake which is located right in the town offers many excellent swimming places a with cool, clear, refreshing water and sandy beaches that are regularly cleaned by the town providing a great recreation spot for everyone.  Some of the more popular swimming spots in Deer Lake include Deer Lake RV Park and Campground,  the Humber River for those who enjoy deeper water swimming and Joe Butt's Lookout a shallow-water area on Nicholsville Road that is enjoyed by families and offers an excellent lakeside waking trail. Here, Faith Hibbs enjoyes a refreshing “jump in the the lake" at Joe Butt's Lookout: and Olivia Sheppard sits on the sandy beach to dry off after she cooled off in the lake.
