A reader says he wants to remind dog owners to pick up after themselves — or more to the point — their pets.
He says he saw a big dog doing his business on the lawn in front of the armoury in Corner Brook a while ago and there was seemed to be no attempt by the owner to clean up the mess.
He says he appreciates that dog owners like to exercise their animals and keep them healthy but he says he “likes to walk on the city sidewalks without having to dodge piles of doggie doo.”
Another reader took interest in a CBC news item about the removal of the old, unused cottage hospital on the Burin Peninsula.
The building has no use anymore and the government is about to raze it.
“Maybe they could dismantle it and move it to the empty lot in Corner Brook where the new regional hospital is supposed to be built,” she said.
One resident says this could be an historic Victoria Day long weekend in these parts.
He says there is no guarantee but the weather forecasts have been predicting a couple of sunny days out of the three and temperatures are expected to climb to near 20.
“We’re usually fighting snow, sleet or rain on the 24th of May weekend,” he said.
“Sometimes all three.
“And as for weather forecasters, they don’t seem to be able to get much right. I have to laugh when they talk about a two-week weather outlook.
“They can barely manage to get the weather right a day ahead,” he said.
