A caller says something needs to be done about the phone service at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
She says she calls the switchboard to contact a doctor, gets transferred and never gets an answer.
“I’ve been phoning since this morning and still can’t get an answer. I’m going to have to get ready and drive over there. Changes need to be made before there is a new hospital.”
A woman called to throw a bouquet to Corner Brook city council.
“We had no idea what the hangup was before with development,” she said. “It’s great to know the reason why. I thought that was good.
“(Mayor Charles Pender) is the first I can remember that told the reason why. It’s also nice to know why some paving will not be done. The city is doing the right thing by telling the people these things.”
A caller had a suggestion for where Bill Barry could send his resumé now that he’s no longer in the running for the leadership of the provincial Progressive Conservative Party. The caller says the fisheries magnate would be a good fit to run the Corner Brook Port.
“He’s a businessman, a good negotiator and he’s got a good head on his shoulders,” the caller said. “If he was running it, I think you’d see more ships tied up there.”
