A woman called last week about the plans to build a dog park in Corner Brook.

“We don’t need a dog park in the city,” she said.

“We have too many dogs around.

“Young people don’t have children anymore they have dogs to protect them instead. That’s what’s going on.

“We don’t need a dog park.”

A Corner Brook driver says he may be mistaken, but he’s pretty sure he saw another driver earlier this week buzzing along O’Connell Drive with a tablet propped up against his steering wheel.

“I’ve seen drivers doing some goofy things in my time, but I think this takes the cake,” he said.

Another driver says he wishes the city would get the lines painted on patched parts of city streets sooner.

“Work has been finished on a section near Humber Park for a couple of days and there are still no lines replaced for the crosswalk there.

“That area is dangerous enough for pedestrians when there are lines on the road but it’s really perilous now,” he said.

A Corner Brook man says he’s seen heavy equipment parked in a couple residential neighbourhoods around the city lately.

“I thought there was a bylaw that prevented these big trucks from doing that,” he said.

“Don’t the city cops or other officials see these things?”

Big disappointment! The park is really too small to accommodate a large breed dog. I am a bit confused. Fund raising for a new SPCA, that has plans for a dog park, is ongoing. They have 5 acres of land!!! I bet $20,000 would have gone a long way in a park had the city decided to support them.

Their is a certain white tractor diesel parked up on Pratt Street ext. every other day and over nite. I wonder how long it will take before some one up there makes complaint to the RNC or the city police. The regulations state this type of commercial vehicle is not aloud to park there and can only be on that street if doing commercial business. these vehicles make way to much noise and their are safety concerns with our children on the streets when this vehicle is operating. Way to much of this happening it needs to be addressed city director Barnable.

I agree their are to many dogs in Corner Brook. The new dog park subsidized by the city tax payors will never hold them. Young adults see these animals as status symbols. Oh!! look at my designer dog. Other folks treat them like they are humans. misguided people. Do you get the point?
