Enough time has been wasted

Local opposition MHA Eddie Joyce poked the government again last week about what their plans are for the proposed regional hospital.

We aren’t much the wiser about what residents of this region can expect in the way of health care when the facility opens … whenever that may be.

The provincial government has committed hundreds of millions of dollars for replacing the crumbling building that now serves the region and have even shown some drawing about what it should look like, but there is a fear that the new hospital will be far from what was originally planned when announced by then premier Danny Williams.

The surging Liberals are trying to spread the idea that they are determined to implement a better plan for the hospital if they become the government in 2015 … but that just isn’t workable.

There has already been a series of studies done on what is need in a hospital to serve the people of this region properly and going back to square one again would delay the start of construction even further.

Years after the original announcement, not one piece of steel has risen on the site on the edge of the city and not likely to anytime soon.

The doors of this hospital were to open in 2016, then 2018 and now it’s anyone’s guess.

This replacement was needed when it was first announced ... and it’s need more so now.

Starting over just isn’t an option at this point.

Mr Joyce, you do understand, your playing political games with people life, we all know if the liberals do form the next government, we got cuts coming, Then the liberals will be saying its all because of the PCS. There will be no hospital in corner brook, under the liberal. after all they don't know the meaning of the word transparency. Liberals will say and do anything just to get the power under their wing once more. and the Hell with everyone after that, As for Mr Ball the only reason he where he too, Because the former mha for that district, wasn't doing anything for the people, just like Ball been doing since he was elects.

the one who should take the blame for the delay is our two members from humber east and west for not standing up for the people who elected them.the hospital should have been started after it was announced in 2007.now we are getting a downsized hospital which was not what was promised by mr marshall.

Sorry Peter the ruling PCs are on the way out and of course no hospital or radiation center. Time to work on the Liberals as it will be them who will probably have to address the new hospital and radiation treatment center for new facility... Either they poop or get off the pot.

Actually, starting over is the best option at this point. Why waste a half billion dollars on a new hospital and not upgrade any of the services???? Many people have been calling for a radiation unit for the west coast, and if they are going to build the new hospital, I think it should be included. If not, scrap the new hospital and use the money to recruit some doctors here, god knows we could use them......

Come on Eddy we need a Cancer treatment facility appropriate for Western Nfld.... If We have to wait a extra year to get it then its worth it. The real question is will the ruling. PCs deliver it or will the Liberals. Eddy will the Liberals add a Cancer treatment facility in this city if elected? Stop playing politics and tell us now......
