Occupy Movement: May they succeed

Dear Editor: The Occupy Movement is in the news these days and it is obvious to me that it is going to dig in its heels and be a force to be reckoned with ... at least in some places.

I say more power to it.

The financial system has been hijacked for far too long by the dirty politics and corporate sleaze of the so-called elites of society whose selfishness, greed and manipulation raises its ugly head more and more.

When a tiny percentage of the population manages to channel a grossly large percentage of the country’s wealth into its own hands, the devil is in the details.

This also manifests itself in the wages paid to the lowest paid workers who live with the scandal of poverty wages and just barely, if at all, able to keep their heads above water financially.

This dehumanizing attitude which says that some people were born just to be slaves of the rich and powerful raises its ugly head frequently and degradingly and continues to walk over the poorest paid workers, pushing them farther and farther into a miserable level of poverty.

The arrogance and disregard for these poor people reflected in this attitude has to be one of the greatest moral disasters of our times.

This attitude has to be trampled on and brought to a full stop.

That’s why I say hats off to the Occupy Movement.

May they successfully fight the political and corporate powers of our times and cause a fair financial system to come about whereby everyone has a decent financial status and with the security that we all need to have in our own communities and not be driven out by the rich, self-serving mentality invasion.

Criticism of capitalism from a government-centric, politically corrupt welfare state. Sure.
