Dear Editor: This letter is a response to an article in The Western Star on Sept. 11 regarding the further development of a mini-home park in Deer Lake.
Town councillors are trying to balance the housing needs of all its citizens. Deer Lake seems to be a senior-friendly community which has several housing developments to answer the call for smaller homes/apartments on one level without a basement.
There comes a time in your life when what you once required just doesn’t meet your needs anymore.
I am loving my new domicile and closeness of neighbours and other necessary amenities — most within walking distance.
I am grateful that the need for alternate housing is being met by forward-thinking developers who are taking action to correct the shortage of suitable homes right where I want to be.
Linda Temple, Deer Lake
