Blow Me Down Trails stalwarts Jennifer Pendleton and Andre Bourque posted the fastest times at the 40th annual Colemans Newfoundland and Labrador Cross-Country Ski Marathon Saturday in Corner Brook.


Pendelton, competing in the Masters 1 division, posted a time of two hours, 25 minutes, 49.7 seconds to claim the fastest time for female racers in the 42-kilometre trek through the scenic groomed trailed network at Blow Me Down Trails.


Bourque, competing in the Masters 1 division, posted a time of two hours, three minutes and 56.9 seconds to claim the fastest time over 42-kilometre for all male competitors.


The Arthur Baker Trophy for the club with the fastest three times on the 42-kilometre course was presented to Avalon Nordic Ski Club of St. John's. A


Peter Baxeley, Lloyd Button and Patrick Collins had a combined time of 6:38:03.8 to give Avalon Nordic the fastest trio of the marathon.


Bourque and clubmates Andrew May and Jamie Merrigan had a combined time of 6:39:19.0 to finish second in the quest for the Arthur Baker Trophy, while Whaleback Nordic of Stephenville ranked third with a combined time of 6:59:37.4 posted by Luke Dunphy, Brian Dunphy and Graham Oliver.


The St. John's trio of Caroline McIlroy, Shirley Granter-Button and Susan Rose posted a combined total of 8:23:05.1 to win the Percy Pieroway Trophy for the club with the fastest three females on the 42-kilometre course.


Blow Me Down Trails skiers Pendleton, Judy May and Tina Newbury placed second with a combined time of 9:41.8.


The Ernie Langins Trophy for participation went to host Blow Me Down Trails with 7.52 points, while Whaleback Nordic of Stephenville placed second with 6.54 points, Avalon Nordic nabbed third with 6.07 and Aurora Nordic of St. Anthony followed with 4.55 points.


Points for the Langins award are calculated based on the per cent of club members participating, with a factor that compensates for distance away from the event.
