The Grade 3 students at Our Lady of Mercy in St. George's, and their
teacher Ms. Noble, recently held a Rock Star Day at their school to raise
money for the SCAPA animal shelter in Stephenville. Students donated money
to dress like rock/pop/country stars for the day. In total the class, with
the help of other classes, raised $100 for the shelter. Way to go grade
three!

The 2013 Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree semi-final regional high school speaking contest was recently held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council in Stephenville and hosted by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Fourth Degree Assembly. Involved in the contest are from left: (front) Michael Gilbert of Stephenville High, first runner-up; Andrea Bennett of Appalachia High School, contest winner; Madison Bennett of Stephenville High second runner-up; (back) Sir Knight Donald Dumont, Sir Knight Al Moraze, Jillian Forsey of Stephenville High; Sebrina King of Appalachia High and Sir Knight Baden Clouter, state deputy and speak-off chairman.

While driving out around Saturday Marcheta Gallant of Stephenvile across some teenagers making the best of a beautiful day. She said they were entertaining themselves with their bikes near the post office in the town. And said it’s great to see the youth doing unplanned outdoor physical activities in the world of technology in which we live.
 

6 width:500px;height:375px Corner Brook Winter Carnival ambassador contestants donate food items to the Food Bank Network. 7 width:500px;height:331px Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers in Corner Brook, along with 13 Grade 6 students from all the elementary schools in the city, were busy Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, collecting food. The officers and students visited all the elementary schools and two junior high schools to pick up food items that had been collected over the past two weeks for the RNC's annual food drive. The students then accompanied the officers in the delivery of the food to the Bay of Islands Food Bank Network location at the Salvation Army on Herald Avenue. 8 width:500px;height:332px Members of the 511 Humber Air Cadets donated about 30 gifts to the Gingerbread House Wednesday. In recognition of International Women's Day on March 8, 2012, the superintendent of the RNC, Corner Brook region, hosted a morning coffee break for all staff and members of the community were also invited. 21 width:500px;height:375px Howley Volunteer Fire Department held a fishing tournament to raise funds for their fire department. The Roland Pittman Jr. Memorial Tournament was held at Gros Morne Arena Nov. 27-28, 2010 (the atom tournament). This is a submitted picture of the opening ceremonies. Gros Morne Academy's team took six medals at the Regionals. Robert Gill and Tyler Gill took the silver medal for boys doubles, Ben Murphy and Nikki Reid took bronze for mixed doubles, Luke Parsons took bronze for boys singles and Katie Hynes won the most sportsman award for the tournament.
