CORNER BROOK Porters continued atop the male standings after Wednesday action in the 2012 provincial B five-pin bowling championships at Centre Bowl in Corner Brook.
Coastline Specialties-Bell Aliant moved into first in the female standings.
Fifteen teams are entered in the six-day competition that concludes Saturday.
The Porters team of Roger Cains, Reuben Porter, Jack Snelling, Bob Richards, Les Elliott and Mick Flynn won 51 of a possible 64 points, six points ahead of City Wide with 46. Corner Brook is third on 39 points. Other teams are Delta St. John’s with 36, Centeast with 32, Plaza Bowl with 24, Tucker Electronics with 22,5, Grand Falls-Windsor with 20 and Canadian Helecopters has 19.5.
The Coastline Specialties-Bell Aliant team of Kelly Murphy, Mary Lawlor, Bette Murphy, Marie O’Rielly, Mary Murphy and Elizabeth Collins has 39.5 of a possible 64 points and is in a tight race with Tiny’s Bar and Gill at 36 and Brother and Simms-Sun Life with 34.5. Alley Cats have 32 as Plaza Bowl has 31.5 and Dolls have 18.5.
Tom Kennedy of Centeast leads the male averages on 243.8. Roger Cains of Porters has a 242.9 average, ahead of Rod Oxford of Corner Brook with 230.6. John Croke of Delta St. John’s has averaged 227.4 and Jerry Murphy of Delta St. John’s has 226.1.
Corner Brook’s Jennifer Torraville of Brother and Simms-Sun Life has the high female average of 208.7, followed by Edith Snelling of Tiny’s Bar and Grill at 205.3, Janet Smith of Alley Cats at 204.3, Karen Johnson of Dolls at 203.6 and Effie Penney of Tiny’s Bar and Grill at 196.5.
