Down 2-0 after the first half, Newfoundland Fasteners rallied in the second to knot their best-of-five Corner Brook Molson Men’s Broomball League semifinal series against Investors Group at one game apiece.

Gary Park scored the game-winner at 8:46 of the second, while Shawn Jenkins and Martin Mantey provided the other goals.

Johnny Pelley and Greg Park were the marksmen for the second-seeded investors.

After winning the opening game of the series handily, the investors jumped out to an early lead thanks to a power-play strike from Pelley at 13:06 of the first half.

Greg Park made it a 2-0 game at 4:24, from Leo Blanchard and Corey Russell, and it looked like the investors were well on their way to a 2-0 series stranglehold.

The bolt bunch regrouped during the break, however, pulling to within one quickly on Jenkins’ goal, a power-play marker at 14:59. Cory Rideout drew the assist.

Mantey tied it up 2-2 at 13:35, unassisted, setting the stage for Gary Park’s winner, which came with investors’ Greg Park in the penalty box for tripping. Rideout picked up the assist.

Adam Tilley was the winning goalie, while Ian Jones took the loss.

The following is a summary from the other semifinal series on Monday night:

West Side Monarchs 6,

Western Building Products 2

Taylor White and Clarence Bennett both scored twice as the Monarchs won their eighth straight game, officially putting the builders on the ropes.

Ronnie Hancock and Scott Wayson also lit the lamp in the victory, which put the Monarchs up 2-0 in the best-of-five showdown.

Gary Kean and Todd Warren responded for the builders, who led 2-1 early in the first half, only to watch as the Monarchs scored five unanswered goals to take the win.

Marc Green earned the win between the pipes, with Albert Specker coming out on the losing end.
