Fewer sends bolt bunch to men’s broomball final

CORNER BROOK  Pat Fewer was the overtime hero for Newfoundland Fasteners Monday night as they ousted Investors Group from the Corner Brook Molson Men’s Broomball League playoffs with a 2-1 triumph at the Pepsi Centre.

The bolt bunch took the best-of-five semifinal series in four games.

Brian Park notched the other goal for the victors.

Corey Russell was the lone marksman on the other side.

Fewer’s goal came early in the overtime period, at 16:43, with Park assisting on the play.

Park gave his side the 1-0 lead at 15:29 of the first. The goal was unassisted.

Russell kept the investors alive by tying the score with 1:32 remaining in the second half. Jeremy Bishop drew the assist.

The league final begins 8:30 p.m. next Monday as the bolt bunch tangle with the West Side Monarchs.
