CORNER BROOK — Evan May posted a time of 16 minutes, 36 seconds to claim top honours in the Dirt Squirt Sport division at the Frost and Furious mountain bike races Sunday at Prince Edward Park.
Alex Merrigan nabbed second spot with a time of 18:43.4, while Sydnee Hynes placed third overall with a final clocking of 31 minutes, 59.7 seconds.
Ben Griffin was the top rider in the Mud Spud division with a time of 2:18.5, while Rachael Griffin (2:22.2), Lauren French (2:25.1) and Sara Ollerhead (3:19.4) rounded out the top overall performers.
Daley Merrigan claimed bragging rights in the Dirt Squirt Expert category with a final clocking of 45 minutes, 11 seconds, while Skyler May (48:54.3), Tarik Rodgrigues (56:43.3), Noah Hynes (56:44.2), Kaden Rodrigues (56:47.5) and Isaac Merrigan (58:03.1) rounded out the field in one of the most competitive race categories in the first Fast and Furious mountain bike race of the fall series.
Sara Graham (1:56:42.2) and Jamie S. Merrigan (1:56:42) posted identical times as the lone participants in the Junior Sport division, while April Muirhead (1:41:24.6) and Nicole May (1:42:05.3) battled it out for top spot in the Open Sport Female division.
Brandon Curry was the speedster on the day, claiming first place in the Open Expert Male division with a final clocking of one hour, 46 minutes and 19.3 seconds. The rest of the field in the Open Expert Male division included Steve May (1:51:26.7), Andrew May (1:56:16.1), Carl Barrett (2:09:24.7), Jamie Merrigan (2:31:50.6) and Simon Smith (2:32:04:4).
