Corner Brook’s Frank Humber has been named as an assistant chefs de mission for Team Newfoundland and Labrador for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
The 16-member mission staff, which will be headed up by Rod Snow of Paradise, was announced on Friday. The other assistant chefs de mission is Karen Sherriffs of St. John’s.
“Team Newfoundland and Labrador’s mission staff will help support and guide our province’s elite athletes and coaches as they prepare for and compete at the country’s most prestigious amateur athletic competition,” said Terry French, minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
“I have every confidence this group of dedicated volunteers will put forth every effort to lead our province’s young athletes to great achievement at these games.”
Other members of the mission staff are Simon Blanks, Mount Pearl; Tony Flood, Paradise; Jeffrey Milley, Labrador City; Gary Martin, Mount Pearl; Janice Turner, Corner Brook; Dave Tilley, Conception Bay South; Laura Cole, Outer Cove; Robert Goulding, Grand Falls-Windsor; Lynette Hiscock, Clarenville; Peter Butt, Twillingate; Dean Lear, Conception Bay South; David Kennedy, Carbonear; and Angela King, Flatrock.
Team Newfoundland and Labrador will have a contingent of approximately 280 athletes, coaches and managers for the 2015 Games.
The games will take place in Prince George, British Columbia, Feb. 13 to March 1, 2015.
Humber was also a mission staff member for the 1999, 2001 and 2007 Canada Games.
