The Rapid Power Sports Bees scored early and often en route to a 21-6 win over Whelan’s Gate in a Corner Brook Molson Ladies Softball League game played at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field Wednesday.
The Bees scored five runs in the first inning before the Gate answered with four in the bottom of the frame.
Another two runs in the second and five in the third helped the winning side pull ahead for good in the contest.
Veteran chucker Tammy Kendell went the distance from the rubber and ended the evening surrendering six runs off nine hits and walk, while whiffing 13 batters along the way.
Kendell helped her own cause at the dish with a 4-for-5 showing that included a double and two runs.
Kayla Brake ripped a triple and scored once in a 3-for-5 evening.
Ashley Wheeler was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three walks to go along with three runs scored.
Peggy Colbourne started the game for the Gators and sufferered the loss. Complete game stats weren’t available as of press time.
Colbourne was 2-for-3 with a double and a run in the losing effort.
Katie Evans and Cassaundra Park each chipped in with a triple and run scored in identical 2-for-3 evenings.
League action resumes tonight at 6:30 p.m. with a game between the KSAB Rangers and West Side Monarchs at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field.
