PASADENA — The Pasadena Pirates bowed out of the hunt for gold at the provincial Mosquito AA baseball tournament with a 6-5 loss to Conception Bay North in semifinal action Sunday in Pasadena.
Aaron Mercer was the top hitter for the Pirates going 2-for-2.
Lucas Bishop went 1-for-3 for the CBN representatives.
Grand Falls-Windsor downed CBN 13-3 in the showdown for gold with Darryl Penton getting the nod as the winning pitcher.
The central Newfoundland squad earned a berth in the final by upending St. John's 15-5 in the other semifinal matchup Sunday morning.
Aaron Stacey of the championship team was selected Most Valuable Player in the eight-team tournament, while Lucas Seaward of Pasadena was the tournament's top pitcher. Aaron Mercer of Pasadena won the batting title, while Ryan Park of the Corner Brook Barons won the Most Spirited Player award and Lucas Adams of CBN was selected the top defensive player of the event.
