CORNER BROOK Darren Colbourne drove in five runs in a 2-for-5 outing to lead the Veitch‚Äôs Ultramar Hawks to a 20-1 victory over the Wing N It Curling Marlins Sunday.
Colbourne paved the way in the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League contest with a three-run homer and two-run double. The seasoned veteran also scored two runs at Jubilee Field in a game called off after five innings due to the league‚Äôs mercy rule.
Mike Brake went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Hawks, who scored nine runs in the top of the second inning to put the game out of reach fairly quickly as the opposition still seek its first win as an expansion team.
Mike Simms had one of his most productive games as a Hawk this season going 2-for-4 with four runs scored as the Hawks pushed six runs across in the fifth inning.
