CORNER BROOK Basketball players at Grenfell Campus got a little taste of the stiff competition at the small college level during a road trip to Nova Scotia.
The Grenfell Campus Warriors men’s and women’s basketball teams competed in the Atlantic College Athletic Association pre-season basketball tournament at the Dalhousie Agricultural College in Truro, N.S. over the weekend.
The two Grenfell squads make the trek to the ACAA pre-season tournament on an annual basis in an effort to test their mettle against some competitive teams at small colleges in Atlantic Canada.
Neither team was able to pull out a victory, but gave a good account of themselves in the first action of the season for both teams who have been working hard to get their rosters intact and start forming a cohesive group to hit the hardwood for another season.
The Warriors men’s team finished up at 0-3 after losing 72-64 and 77-69 to the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams in two intense contests before wrapping up the tournament with an 87-62 loss to the University of Kings College Blue Devils in a back-to-back situation Sunday morning.
The Grenfell women’s team also finished with an 0-3 record, losing 64-36 to the Rams in the first game Friday night before being defeated 69-28 by Holland College Saturday morning and losing to the Rams in a rematch by an 81-53 spread Saturday night.
