CORNER BROOK Holly Mackeyâ€™s six-point game paved the way for Sacred Heart in a 16-11 victory over J. J. Curling in the battle for gold at the Tiny Titans Grade 6 Girls Basketball Tournament.
Madison Hackett, Jenna King, Arianna Sheppard, Kristen Buckle and Megan Allen had two points each for the winners in the championship game Saturday at Corner Brook Regional High School gymnasium.
Hailey Companion had seven points for the J. J. Curling girls, while Grace Hatcher and Hannah Bond had two points apiece in a defensive battle as the winners held off the highest-scoring team in the six-team second annual hoops tournament.
Mackey drained 10 points to lead the charge for Sacred Heart in a 16-14 win over St. Gerardâ€™s School in one of two semifinal matchups Saturday afternoon.
Madison Hackett had four points for the champs in the semifinal matchup.
Paige Hickey was the top gun for St. Gerardâ€™s with eight points, while Melissa Barker threw in four points.
Grace Hatcher had seven points and Hailey Companion collected four as J. J. Curling earned a berth in the final showdown with a 24-12 triumph over Templeton Academy of Meadows in the other semifnal matchup.
Sarah Penney was the top shooter for the Templeton girls with six points, while Emily Penney, Madison Park and Alyssa Christopher all had baskets in a losing cause.

Sacred Heart 25, Immaculate Heart of Mary 20
Holly Mackey (8) and Arianna Sheppard (7) were the offensive stars for Sacred Heart in the opening game of the round-robin affair.
Makenzy Bishop scored 10 and Emma Doman notched eight in a losing cause.
J. J. Curling 38, Humber Elementary 6
Grace Hatcher was a dominant force on the hardwood with a 16-point performance in a lopsided affair, while Hailey Companion and Hannah Lyberg threw in four points apiece for the winners.
Amy Payne had all six points for the Humber Elementary squad.
Sacred Heart 29, Templeton Academy 16
Holly Mackey was a consistent shooter for the tournament champions, draining 10 points against the Templeton girls, while Madison Hackett added eight points to the scoresheet.

It couldnâ€™t get much closer as Hailey Companion notched 10 points and Hannah Lyberg drained eight to lead the charge for J. J. Curling.

Templeton Academy 24, Immaculate Heart of Mary 8

Paige Hickey had 10 points, while Melissa Barker and Sydney Joyce had eight apiece to ignite the offence for the St. Gerardâ€™s entry.
