CORNER BROOK  It’s still too early to say which team is the true favourite in the Corner Brook Molson Men’s Broomball League, but smart money is currently on Investors Group.

Todd Warren scored twice and Adam Tilley recorded his second shutout in a row as the investors blanked Western Building Products 2-0 Monday night at the Pepsi Centre.

Marc Green suffered the defeat at the other end of the rink.

Warren’s first goal came at the 10-minute mark of the first half, with Mike Hawco drawing the lone assist.

With 4:07 remaining in the game, Warren buried another to put his side up by two. Hawco and David Alexander provided the helpers.

“The team’s been playing pretty good,” said Warren, who has missed a few games so far this season. “The boys have been keeping themselves on top.”

The two-goal man attributed his solid outing to “pent-up energy” from not having played in a little while.

“I thought I played all right,” he said. “But the guys played really tight around our goalie and Adam kept the ball out all night.

“It was a good game for us.”

The following is a summary of the other league game on Monday night:

Newfoundland Fasteners 2, West Side Monarchs 0

Scott Wayson and Ron Burnett both registered goals for the bolt bunch as they finally picked up their second win of the season.

Albert Specker had the clean sheet in goal for the victors.

Ian Jones was the losing goalkeeper.

The investors move to 5-1-1 on the year and are quickly running away with it, as they put even more distance between them and the second-place builders at 3-3-1. The Monachs are now 3-4-0 for third spot, while the bolt bunch are 2-5-0.
