MEADOWS When it was time to soar, the Falcons responded in a big way.
Nick Pilgrim drained 20 points and tournament Most Valuable Player Daniel Soper had a 19-point outing as the Pasadena Academy Falcons defeated the Corner Brook Regional High Level 1 Titans 82-69 in the championship final Saturday at the Templeton Academy Senior Boys Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Jake O'Shea had a strong game for the Falcons with an 18-point performance, while Evan Blake added 12 to the scoring parade at the Templeton Academy gymnasium.
Matthew Hancock and Nathan Barker had 20 points apiece for the Titans Level 1 squad at the Templeton Academy gymnasium in an eight-team two-division tournament.
The Level I Titans earned top spot in Blue Division with a perfect 3-0 round-robin record, while the Falcons finished right behind them with a 2-1 record. The only loss for the Falcons came at the hands of the Level 1 Titans in an 81-75 setback in their second game of the tournament Thursday night.
Exploits Valley High claimed bragging rights to spot spot in the Maroon Division with three-straight wins, while Clarenville High nabbed second place in the division and a semifinal berth with a 2-1 record.
The Falcons earned a rematch with the Level 1 Titans by virtue of a 70-49 victory over Exploits Valley High in one of two semifinal matchups played Saturday afternoon in Meadows.
Pilgrim, who was the only Falcon named to the tournament all-star squad, was the offensive force for the victors with a 21-point outing and Mitchell Snow poured in 18 points.
Daniel Hayley had 22 points to lead the charge for the opposing bench, while Ibby Dogar continued his consistent play with a 20-point performance to wrap up his weekend in Meadows.
Meanwhile, Tyler Wise poured in 19 and Nathan Barker threw in 12 as the Level 1 Titans downed Clarenville High 73-44 in other semifinal showdown Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Smith was the top scorer for the Clarenville entry with 12 points.

Pasadena Academy Falcons 102, Elwood High Lakers 56
The Falcons, who scored 67 points in the second half alone in a balanced attack, were led by Nick Pilgrim‚Äôs 27-point performance in the tournament opener in a game held at Pasadena Academy earlier in the week.
Andrew Moss drained 18 to lead the charge for the Lakers.
Corner Brook Regional High Level 1Titans 62, Corner Brook ‚ÄąRegional High Level 2 Titans 49
Nathan Barker drained 28 points to lead the charge for the winners in a game played at G. C. Rowe Junior High gymnasium in Corner Brook earlier in the week as organizers staged a couple of games earlier in the week to accomodate a weekend schedule with only one gym available to use.
Corner Brook Regional High Level 1 Titans 81, Pasadena Academy Falcons 75
Chris Hughes (26) and Nathan Barker (23) were the top guns for the city boys against the Pasdena entry.
Mitchell Snow poured in 25 points to lead the Falcons, while benchmate Nick Pilgrim added 20 points to the scoring parade at the school in Meadows.
Templeton Academy Tigers 79, Stephenville High Spartans 43
Patrick Brake scored 19 points for the host Tigers, while Cody Otto knocked down 10 in triumph.
Brayden Legge had 12 points to take the spotlight for the Spartans, while Tiuri Lomond threw in 11.
Elwood High Lakers 48, Corner Brook Regional High Level 2 Titans 44
Jeremy Davis held the hot hand for the Lakers with a 17-point outing, while Andrew Moss poured in 12 for the winning side.
Thomas Byrne collected 12 points for the opposiding side, while Brady Cook notched an 11-point game.
Exploits Valley High 68, Stephenville High Spartans 39
Ibby Dogar (24) and Daniel Hayley (20) were the top shooters for the winning side from central Newfoundland.
Brayden Legge (17) and Tiuri Lomond (8) were the top offensive producers for the Spartans.
Clarenville High 52, Templeton Academy Tigers 51
Jordan Smith paved the way for the winners with a 17-point effort, while Curtis Pearce was a consistent force with 15 points in the victory.
Patrick Brake drained 20 for the hometown boys, while benchmate Thomas Lovell collected 10.
Corner Brook Regional High Level 1 Titans 67, Elwood High Lakers 38
Chris Hughes (26) and Nathan Barker (23) proved to be a dynamite duo on the harwood for the winners.
Lucas Hoyles shared the limelight with 17 points for the Lakers, while Andrew Moss kept making a contribution to the offence with 15 points.
Clarenville High 51, Stephenville High 38
Ryan Wareham (13) and Kyle Evans (11) ignited the offensive spark for the Clarenville high school squad.
Tiuri Lomond was the top shooter for the Stephenville boys with 13 and Andrew Patten added eight points to the mix.
Exploits Valley High 78, Templeton Academy 54
Ibby Dogar (31) and Daniel Hayley (28)‚Äąwere the offensive weapons for the EVH squad.
Patrick Brake drained 25 points and Thomas Lovell poured in nine for the hometown boys.
Pasadena Academy 82, Corner Brook Regional High Level 2 Titans 75
Nick Pilgrim and Mitchell Snow drained 23 points apiece to lead the Falcons into a playoff berth with a 2-1 record.
Brady Cook paved the way for the Level 2 Titans with 24 points and Justin Dawe poured in 14 in a losing cause.
