Ball hockey crowns up for grabs

BAIE VERTE  Three provincial boys ball hockey teams will be declared champions this weekend.

Nine teams will hit the gym floor for the provincial 2A boys ball hockey tournament being hosted by Copper Ridge Academy in Baie Verte.

The host Copper Ridge Academy squad will compete in A Division with Gill Memorial of Musgrave Harbour, St. Joseph’s Academy of Lamaline, Valmont Academy of King’s Point and Burgeo Academy.

Teams competing in B Division include Cape John Collegiate of La Scie, Viking Trail Academy of Plum Point, St. Mary’s All Grade of Mary’s Harbour and St. Mark’s All Grade of King’s Cove.

Templeton Academy Tigers, Canon Richards High and Labrador Straits Academy are among the nine teams vying for gold at the provincial 3A boys ball hockey tournament being hosted by King Academy in Harbour Breton.

At the provincial 4A tournament this weekend, being staged at Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts, the Stephenville High Spartans will battle for gold against eight teams including Menikek High of Labrador City and O’Donel High of Mount Pearl.
