Titans perfect on the hardwood with Nathan Barker leading the charge

ST. JOHN’S — Nathan Barker’s consistency on the court was a huge factor in the championship run for the Corner Brook High Titans Grade 10 basketball team.

Barker, chosen the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, drained 27 points to lead the Titans to a 64-53 victory over Gonzaga High of St. John’s in the gold-medal game at the provincial Grade 10 Boys A Basketball Tournament Saturday night at Holy Heart High gymnasium.

The Titans, who finished with a perfect 4-0 mark in round-robin play in the five-team tournament, also had 11 points from Brandon Bragg in the tournament final.

The following is a look at the road to perfection for the Corner Brook Titans:

Corner Brook Titans 69,

Holy Heart High 51

Barker was a dominant force in the tournament opener for the champions with a 22-point outing, while Tyler Wise — chosen player of the game for the winners — shared the limelight with 19 points.

Corner Brook Titans 71,  Holy Spirit High 43

Tyler Wise paved the way for the west coast city boys with a 15-point effort, while Chris Dobbin had 14 and Brandon Bragg chipped in with 13.

Will O’Driscoll got the nod as player of the game for the Titans.

Corner Brook Titans 62, Gonzaga High 54

Matthew Hancock, with a 10-point effort, got the nod as player of the game for the Titans, while Barker drained 16 and Wise added 11 to the mix.

Corner Brook Titans 76, Mobile High 56

Bragg, with 12 points to his credit, earned player of the game for the Titans, while Barker poured in 20 and Wise collected 14.
