Megan Colbourne and Heidi Perry of the Corner Brook Rapids were among the top achievers at the 2014 provincial long course swim championships held at the Aquarena in St. John’s.

Colbourne received second-place achiever status in the female 12 & Under age bracket, while Perry placed third in the top achiever ranking in the female 13-14 age group.

A total of 10 swim clubs from around the province were represented at the weekend meet that also saw Shelby Pike of the Deer Lake Dolphins turn in a stellar performance in the female 15 & Over age group.

Colbourne’s impressive weekend included top honours in the 50-m, 100-m and 200-m butterfly events.

Perry turned heads at the Aquarena with first-place finishes in the 400-m and 800-m freestyle events.

Pike, the only Dolphin to compete in the provincial long course championships, collected gold in 100-m backstroke and silver in both 50-m butterfly and 50-m backstroke.

She claimed bronze in 50-m freestyle against the top swimmers from across the province to claim a medal in four of her six events.
