Clutch hitting from both Kayla Brake and Ashley Penney lifted the Rapid Power Sports Bees to a 10-6 win against the KSAB Rangers Tuesday night in Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League play at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field.
Brake was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Penney went 2-for-3, driving in two runs. Tammy Kendell was also strong at the dish with a 3-for-3 stat line and a single RBI, with Judy Wells also batting in a run in a 2-for-3 effort.
Lori Patey was flawless in defeat, with a 3-for-3 performance that led to a run scored. Megan Colbourne was 3-for-5 with a run, while Li Bishop was 2-for-4, also crossing the plate once. Nikki Carter went 2-for-3 on the night.
Kendell gave up 17 hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking a pair.
For the Rangers, Donna Clarke allowed a dozen hits through seven innings, with six strikeouts and two walks.
The Bees built up a 9-2 lead after two, before the game settled down into a more defensive contest, with only five runs scored through the remaining five innings.
