It was all offence, all the time in Corner Brook Molson‚ÄąMen‚Äôs Fastpitch Softball League action at Fred Basha Memorial Park A‚ÄąDiamond on Wednesday night.
When the dust had settled, the Cardinals emerged with a 16-14 triumph over Whelan‚Äôs Gate.
Nathan White was large for the winning side, scoring five runs in a 2-for-5 night that also saw him reach base on two errors and a walk. Chris Tobin was walked three times in a 1-for-2 effort, scoring three times.
Colton‚ÄąKennedy was 4-for-5 for the Gators, amassing four doubles. Jordan Kennedy went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a base hit and a walk.
Tyler Wells tossed four innings for the Cardinals, giving up nine runs on 10 hits, with three strikeouts and six walks. Keith‚ÄąAndrews mopped up in the final three innings, striking out six, walking three and allowing five runs.
Alex Brake started for the Gators, getting tagged for four runs on as many hits, with four walks and no strikeouts. Barry Smith allowed 12 runs to cross the plate in his three innings of work.
North Shore and the Cardinals are both 1-0 on the year now, while the Gators drop to 0-2.
