Goulding powers Bees to women’s softball win

Nicole Goulding had three RBIs and three runs scored to help the Rapid Power Sports Bees to a 17-10 decision over the West Side Monarchs in Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League action Monday night at the Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Softball Field.

Kayla Brake had three hits on four attempts, scoring three times, while Jillian Wells scored twice and had an RBI in a 4-for-4 effort. Nicole Bursey was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk.

Stephanie Sparks had two runs in a 3-for-5 evening for the losing side. He was walked once. Melanie Penney scored a run in a 1-for-1 outing. Sharon Bouffard was 3-for-4 with a walk, while Sandy Barter went 2-for-5.

Wells recorded the win on the mound, striking out seven battres, while allowing 15 hits and nine walks over seven innings.

Penney, Hailey Walsh and Cheyanne Biggin all saw time on the hill for the Monarchs. Penney gave up three hits and three walks, with one strikeout, in one inning. Walsh pitched three innings, allowing 11 hits and two walks, while Biggin also worked three innings, giving up six hits.
