Ian Macleod scored for Mount Pearl five minutes into the second half, but Zach Wade replied for Holy Cross a minute later.
Jon Hawco of Holy Cross was named most valuable player of the final weekend and received the Gerard Quirke Memorial Trophy.
Holy Cross now advances to the National Challenge Cup Championship to be played Oct. 6-11 in Prince Edward Island. Holy Cross earned the right to play in the championship game when they defeated Mount Pearl by a 1-0 score in their game Friday. Mount Pearl advanced by defeating St. Lawrence on penalty kicks after playing to a tie in their game Saturday.
Players named to the Challenge Cup all-star team prior to the championship game included goalkeeper Tyler Putt, defenders Shane Antle, Jeremy Babstock, Mark Pittman and John Acreman, midfielders Jon Kelly, Rudy Norman, Zach Wade and Ryan Yetman and forwards Scott Woodfine and Mike Howlett.
Individual award winners for the 2010 Challenge Cup season included Tyler Putt, Dick Power Memorial Award as MVP of regular season; Mike Howlett, Wils Molloy Award for Golden Boot (top scorer); Scott Woodfine, Ed Moyst Award for rookie of the year; Jeremy Babstock, Jeff Babstock Award for top defender; John Acreman, Jim Goff Award for most sportsmanlike player; and Jake Stanford, Phonse Warren Memorial Award for coach of the year.
Holy Cross also won the Bobby Breen Memorial Trophy for finishing in top spot in the provincial Challenge Cup league during the regular season.
