MOUNT PEARL — At the end of the day, offence became an issue for the Corner Brook masters soccer team.
The club began the 2012 Molson Provincial A Masters Male Soccer Championship well enough, playing Conception Bay South to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night.
Little did they know, Kevin Lasaga’s goal in that game would be their last of the tournament.
The Corner Brook club was beaten soundly on Friday by eventual-champion St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians, as they ended up on the wrong end of a 5-0 score.
Saturday, Corner Brook played Molson-Duke of Duckworth to a 0-0 stalemate, which proved to be the last game of the tournament for the local squad.
St. Lawrence won the tournament Sunday, defeating Mount Pearl Old Dutch Proactive Physio 4-1.In addition to the provincial title, the win earned St. Lawrence the right to represent the province in the Eastern Canadian Masters Championships in St. John’s Sept. 27-30.
