Bennett leads Monarchs Black to indoor soccer final

A four-goal output from Clarence Bennett couldn’t have come at a better time for the West Side Monarchs Black.

Mark Fitzpatrick and Tom Beck also scored Wednesday night, as the Monarchs Black defeated the Steers Insurance Curling Rangers 6-3 at the Pepsi Studio to book their spot in the Corner Brook Molson Indoor Soccer League championship game.

Dennis Bellows, Ty Gallant and Lyle Griffin provided the offence for the Rangers in the loss.

In other action from Wednesday, fourth-seeded Stephenville upset the third-ranked Monarchs Gold club 6-2.

Tiuri Lomond netted a hat trick for the victors, while David Alexander, Daniel Alexander and Sam Watkins also disturbed the mesh.

Tyler Lavers and Pat Fewer replied in the losing cause.

The Rangers will now tangle with Stephenville at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to play the Monarchs Black at the same time on April 30 for the championship.
