VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - Brandon Hynes of Norris Point notched his first goal for the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Friday night in Victoriaville.

The former Western NL Subway fired a blast for the point on the power-play that got past Chicoutimi Sagueneens goalie Sean Coulton at 3:07 of the second period and put his team ahead 2-0.

The Tigres' No. 9 was playing the point with the man-advantage, but ended up chasing down one of the Sagueneens who managed to get a breakaway on a blueline turnover on the other side. His goalie, Loic Boivin, made the stop and Hynes gathered the puck and carried it back into the Sagueneens' zone. He dished it into the corner and when it came back to him from Andrei Nestrasil, he made no mistake.

Hynes' parent David and Jackie were expected to fly in for the game. It was the Tigres home-opener in front of a capacity crowd. The Tigres were leading Chicoutimi 2-1 after two frames, but the final score was not known at press time.

Andrew Smith, son of Leonard and Sharon Smith of Corner Brook - a former teammate of Hynes - was wearing No. 9 for the Sagueneens and played several shifts in the first two periods.
