Pasadena -

Any day of the week you will find people of Pasadena out walking, cycling, jogging, roller blading. It's a town that likes to keep busy and keep fit.

And now, thanks to Pasadena town council and its active living co-ordinator, Wanda Wight, residents have yet another option for their keep-fit schedule.

A successful application to the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation saw a grant of $15,000 awarded to the town over the winter and it just needed the snow to disappear for the work to begin.

With an additional $20,000 from the town, the west coast's first outdoor fitness park became a reality and the park was officially opened by Mayor Gary Bishop this week.

The park currently consists of 10 pieces of apparatus - final piece is still awaiting delivery - and is open every day free of charge.

It is situated beside the children's play area on Tenth Avenue.

Along with the soccer pitch, the baseball pitches and the volleyball courts, this is another welcome addition to the recreational facilities which are so well used in Pasadena.
