Ming's Bright -

A young Ming's Bight man died Thursday night following a single-vehicle accident in the Baie Verte Peninsula community.

Baie Verte RCMP, in conjunction with RCMP Traffic Service West collision analysts, were on the scene Friday investigating the accident, in which the vehicle left the road and rolled over about 11 p.m.

The teenager, who had been the only person in the pickup, apparently lost control of the vehicle and was partially ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident.

Police are ruling out potential causes in hopes of determining the actual cause of the accident. Police said there were several young people who witnessed the accident.

Fire personnel from both Ming's Bight and Baie Verte were dispatched to the scene to extract the driver.

The young man was taken to hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead shortly after admission to the Baie Verte hospital.

The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next-of-kin.
