GANDER, N.L. – Gander-based EVAS Air will set a company milestone this week as an all-female crew will operate a flight for the first time.

The flight will travel from Gander to Goose Bay on Thursday, June 28.

“This is an exciting day for our airline as Captain Gloria Sanchez and First Officer Maria Mahecha Fierro will fly the EVAS Air flight to Labrador,” EVAS Air president and CEO Patrick White said in a release.

“This development is significant for our airline as we continue to hire for the future.”

EVAS Air, a connector for Air Canada in Atlantic Canada, has four female pilots.

The company is Newfoundland and Labrador’s only locally owned and operated airline.
