Plans to relocate and expand a couple of Corner Brook businesses took another step forward Monday night, despite there being some public opposition to the idea.

Around 40 people attended a public consultation held in late April regarding plans for the owner of Bud’s Auto Body to relocate Conway’s Towing to the Curling area and to open up a spray-in truck box liner business at the O’Connell Drive site too.

Some of them opposed the idea, worried the business at the intersection of Georgetown Road would be an eyesore for the otherwise largely residential area.

At Monday evening’s public city council meeting, the business was granted its request to proceed with having a parcel of its property rezoned from residential to light industrial.

The rezoning will still require review and approval by the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment.
