Parsons succeeds previous chair Eddie Kennedy, who is resigning his position after a two-year term.
“Mr. Kennedy has done a great deal to bring the DBA back on track. Under his leadership, the organization has managed to shore up its finances and legal structure, while taking steps to implement a strategic plan to promote business in the downtown core,” said Parsons in a press release.
“I believe the DBA is now in an excellent position to bring noticeable change to the downtown and our member businesses.”
Parsons said the key to downtown revitalization is better communication and engagement with business members and with city hall.
“The downtown is the heart and soul of Corner Brook. No one understands this better than our membership. For Corner Brook to thrive, the downtown must thrive.”
The Corner Brook Downtown Business Association is a not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer board. All businesses in the downtown pay a levy with their city business tax and are automatically members of the association.
