People going to and from Fogo Island will soon have the option of foregoing the ferry now that Gander-based EVAS Air is launching a scheduled air charter service between the islands.
The airline will use refurbished a Twin Otter aircraft that seats 16 to 19 passengers. As an added bonus, once the plane touches down in Gander, the airline will operate a shuttle bus service that will bring passengers to the hospital, government offices, shopping centres or to the main airport terminal for connecting flights.
There’s no set date for when the service will start and it’s frequency will be based on demand, but EVAS president Patrick White noted in a press release that they “anticipate there will be huge interest.”
EVAS will also make their aircraft available for medical transfer and private charters.
“This new air charter service opens up many new opportunities for residents in the region, both personal and business,” stated White
