GANDER, N.L. – Locked out employees of DJ- Composites will be holding a rally and community barbecue in Gander at noon today, Aug. 7.

The 31 employees, members of Unifor local 597, have been locked out for 597 days.

"If this province had stronger labour laws, D-J Composites would never get away with its shameful union busting and would have to instead negotiate fairly," Lana Payne, Unifor’s director of the Atlantic regional, said in a release.

The rally and barbecue is being held at Gander Town Square.

Speakers will include Iggy Oram, the unit chair and spokesperson for the locked-out workers, Fish, Food and Allied Workers (FFAW-Unifor) president Keith Sullivan, Unifor Atlantic Council chair Ian Hutchinson and NDP Leader Gerry Rogers.
