St. John’s native nominated for women’s entrepreneurial award

St. John’s native Dr. Caroline Roberts has been named a finalist for an RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.

Roberts is the founder, president and CEO of Thoth Technology Inc., a space and defence company with a focus on space situational awareness (SSA) and operators of Earthfence, the world’s first commercial deep space radar service. The company also provides products and services to other firms in the space sector.

Roberts was one of over 7,000 nominees in 2018 and emerged as one of three finalists in for the Telus Trailblazer Award.

She is the daughter of former lieutenant-governor Ed Roberts.

The awards, presented for the past 26 years to Canada’s leading female entrepreneurs, is an initiative started by the Women of Influence, an organization that offers solutions to further women’s career advancement. Of the more than 7,000 nominees in 2018, 23 finalists have been selected to represent the seven award categories.

RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards recognize female business owners from across Canada who make impressive and substantial contributions to the economy.

The gala celebration takes place Wednesday, Nov. 21 at the Fairmont Royal York in downtown Toronto.
