ST. JOHN’S, NL – Two students from Crescent Collegiate in South Dildo have won Workplace NL’s annual student safety radio ad contest.

Kira Clarke and Rebecca Warren will share a $1,000 prize and have their radio ad aired across Newfoundland and Labrador.

In addition to the radio ad category, the competition, which is open to junior and senior high students from grades seven to 12, also has a video ad component.

This year’s winners were the Villanova Junior High Media Crew from Conception Bay South. Its 10 members – Michael Burke, Sam Collins, Nicole English, Claire Gillingham, Jacob Kavanagh, Eli Paulin, Ben Philpott, Amythest Rodgers, Alex Samson and Sera Tulk – will also split a $1,000 prize.

“We must continuously focus on creating a culture of safety in Newfoundland and Labrador, and our youth are integral to the process,” Sherry Gambin-Walsh, the minister responsible for WorkplaceNL, said in a news release.
