Kippens to celebrate Canada Day

KIPPENS - Organizers for Canada Day events in Kippens once again have an array of activities taking place in which citizens can take part.

The opening ceremonies and welcome kicks off the day's activities at 1:30 p.m. at Kippens Community Centre. As soon as this ceremony is completed, there will be outdoor fun activities at the Kippens Recreation Field, featuring a fish tank with fun prizes, reading tent, face painting, bubble contest, balloon races, hoop throw, tug of war, bean bag toss, Frisbee toss, three-legged race, marshmallow race, hula-hoop contest and more.

There will also be music by the Kippers and hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will be served.

From 2-4 p.m., there will be an afternoon bingo for adults only at Kippens Community Centre. At the same location from 6-8 p.m., there will be a sock hop for ages 12 and under with door prizes, spot dances and fun games.At 9:45 p.m. a family fireworks will take place at Kippens soccer pitch, and at 10 p.m., there will be a dance for adults at the Kippens Community Centre.

Rosemary Ryan-Forsey, chairperson for the Kippens Leisure Council, said that Kippens Summer Recreation registration is taking place at their community centre on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, from 2-5 p.m.
