A Corner Brook man owing more than $26,300 in fines spent the night in jail earlier this week until he could make an appearance in provincial court.
Sean Michael Dobbin, 46, was arrested at around 5 p.m. Tuesday after the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a tip that a man with suspended driving privileges was driving a vehicle in downtown Corner Brook.
Dobbin, who has been suspended from driving since 2005, was stopped on Caribou Road.
He was charged with four offences under the Highway Traffic Act, including driving while suspended, failing to file a change the address with the motor vehicle registrar, failure to stop at a stop sign and improper signal for intention to turn.
He was held in custody until an appearance in provincial court Wednesday morning, at which time he was released and given a next court appearance date of Oct. 3.
