Caribou still hanging out

Somewhere along the way, the caribou in the center of this photo lost one of his antlers. That caribou and the one to the right had their curiosity piqued at the photographer, while the other on the left continued feeding on marsh grass.

A herd of caribou is still hanging around marshes near White’s Road between Gull Pond and Black Duck Siding.

They seem to be enjoying the marsh grass as they feed through the snow and lolling under the sun on small ponds in the area.

However, there is also concern about them crossing the road and after an accident on Wednesday that resulted in one of the animals getting killed, but fortunately no injuries to the driver of the vehicle that hit the caribou.

While there are no warning signs posted, drivers are being asked to slow down in the area.
