Power just waiting To be captured print this article
The Western Star

Premier Danny Williams said last week he might tag along with federal cabinet minister Peter MacKay if he flew over the proposed site of the Lower Churchill hydro project.

The premier says MacKay — who represents the interests of this province in cabinet — has a great interest in the project ... and especially in moving the power to the Maritime provinces.

Having a promoter in Ottawa might just speed up the process of getting it built and producing power.

Planning for the billion-dollar project is plodding along but it will take a big financial investment to get it off the ground.

Ottawa should be more than willing to put money into the Lower Churchill.

Canada is under pressure to cut its carbon output and this relatively clean project would move the country in the right direction.

Besides that, it’s a great financial investment for Canadian taxpayers.

Hydro power is going to be a hot commodity when the world climbs out of the present recession.

North American industry will be needing power when factories begin ramping up and producing again.

The price of oil is sagging now but that won’t likely last.

As conditions improve, oil consumption will spike and so will prices.

The Lower Churchill project is a sure winner on many levels and it’s time to get it off the ground.

Brad from NL writes: So what happened with going it alone there Mr. Williams? Ran out of cash? Don't count your chickens before they hatch there Danny boy, the knees may get a little sore trying to get some support from the federal government. Just goes to show that this bigmouth likes to talk before being fully informed. I guess he does have a big enough mouth for both feet.

Graham from NL writes: Proud of your A B C Campaign now I bet Danny boy. Sucking up to the Feds wont help you now. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely and Danny Williams is proof of that. Perhaps by sucking up to Ottawa Williams thinks he can make it seem like it was all his idea if something should happen that makes him look good. After all its all about HIS IMAGE and HIS EGO.

Juwal from NL writes: I think the Premier is once again exhibiting his negotiating skills.Play hard ball when it is warranted and compromise when needed. You go Premier and don't pay attention to the Liberal naysayers. If it was up to them the Lower Churchill would have been given away to Quebec eons ago.

Barry Hunt from NL writes: Juwal why is it that the Danny worshipers like you always try to make anyone who dare question the Premiers actions seem to be a Liberal. Danny calls them traitors you call them Liberals. I voted for this Provincial Government twice thank you very much. The Danny Williams there now is not the same Danny Williams I helped get elected on those two occasions. The man has become consumed by his own ego. Perhaps the huge majority we gave him in the last election has gone to his head who knows really. Whatever the reason he has gotten my vote for the final time. The power hungry ego maniac school yard bully has outlived his best before date and has to be replaced one way or another.

Baxter from NL writes: Negotiating skills? Give me a break there Juwal. My way or the Hi way is all Danny Williams knows. Remember ABC in the last Federal Election? Now that was a great piece of negotiation wasnt it now. Look what that got us. In spite of all that the Federal Government has chosen to pump billions into this province and ignore the childishness of our fearless leader Danny Castro Williams.

Beatrice from NL writes: Whats the flavour of the Danny cool aid this week Juwal? You seem to be drinking a lot of it these days. Either your new to the province or incredibly stupid to tout Danny Williams a a good negotiator. Then again you may very well work for him many of his hired help do nothing more than read and reply to anything that might actually make him look bad. God forbid that the luster fades from the Danny Williams halo. Too late there Juwal the luster is long gone all that remains is the blindness it caused in people like you.

Phoebe Tilley from NL writes: Danny cooperate with Ottawa give me a break. The dictator has to always be in control of any situation. If its not all his idea and if it dosent somehow make him look good it just dosent happen.

Doug from NL writes: Looks like that idiot Graham is shooting his big mouth off again. Why don't you shut your big mouth and run for office. You got your mouth into just about every article that is posted. You really need to get a job, a life or maybe the companionship of a good woman!

Graham from NL writes: Pick a place Doug and I will run against you any day. I am retired so I dont need a job. I have a great life and the companionship of a very lovely woman for the last 37 years. Now Doug tell all of us your excuse for acting like such a complete idiot. Is that the affect Danny has on people these days? Seems to have worked in your case. Dare to question the great Danny Williams and become an idiot according to Doug. Now other than bashing me what was the point of your completely mindless rant there Doug? Danny must have you drinking the cool aid this week your little brain is even more useless than it usually is.

Andrea Martin from NL writes: Take your medication there Doug sweetie. We still live in a world where any of us can freely express an opinion in spite of what Danny Williams tries to do to stop that. It seems that whenever Graham or anyone else makes a comment about your master Danny the real idiots come out to play and mindlessly defend him like your doing.

Barry Hunt from NL writes: Crawl back under your stump Doug unless you can put your money weher your gigantic mouth is and take Graham up on his challenge and run against him. He said anywhere so pick a place Doug. If Graham needs a campaign manager I will help him the slogan will be A B C D anyone Anyone But Crazy Doug.

Clayton from NL writes: Must be sopme great stuff your drinkin tonight Doug. Your point was what exactly? You dont like Graham thats obvious. So other than that what do you have to contribute to this discussion? Thats what I thought. You have nothing. Sorry Doug sometime the truth about Danny gets people like you very frustrated. Then again in your case frustration seems like a permanent condition.

Doug from NL writes: To Graham and other Danny haters who are living off his success...I don't want to run for office and challenge everything that our premier has to offer for a better life for my fellow Newfoundlanders. Graham, you say that you are retired... why don't you reire that stupid, negative attitude and be greatuful that we finally have a premier that has a brain and is not willing to give everything away for for a few jobs!
