Williams commits to keep X-ray, lab services in Flowers Cove print this article
The Canadian Press

LEWISPORTE — Premier Danny Williams says he is almost one hundred per cent sure the people of Flowers Cove will get to keep their lab and X-ray services.

The premier made the commitment while campaigning on the Northern Peninsula for the upcoming byelection for the Straits-White Bay North riding left vacant by Trevor Taylor.

An earlier government decision to cut back lab and X-ray services in the communities of Flowers Cove and Lewisporte has been a hot election issue.

Williams says he has spoken with the provincial minister of Health and is “99 per cent sure” the services are going to stay.

Responding to suggestions that it was the byelection that prompted the government to rethink its positions, the premier said he’s just trying to make the best decisions for the health care system.

Opposition leaders have argued the cutbacks would have forced residents of the community to travel long distances for basic health services.

STOP THE RACKET from NL writes: In the middle of two by elections the dictator will say and promoise anything we want. After the elections there will be reasons why none of it can happen. The usual Williams way. Lies and broken promises. Why only 99% sure Danny? Is that remaining 1% your way out of any comittment? These by elections will change nothing Oil Can Dan the Dictator will steill be there, but at least we have a chance to send a strong message. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR LIES AND BROKEN PROMISES. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR COVERUPS AND CORRUPTION. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOU.......So now its all up to you on October 27th ...STOP THE RACKET STOP DANNY WILLIAMS. After all as he said hinself politics and being premier of the province is only a racket and Taylor and Oram are the smart ones for getting out of this racket. Be SMART Danny do us all a favour and show us how smart you are and let someone be premier who really wants to be there for us and not their own agenda and ego.

Beverly from NL writes: Where have you guys been living all your lives? Utopia? Danny Williams has done more for NL in his few short year as our elected Premier than any other Premier in the past. It is time to get off your high horses and get down to reality! Sure, everything is not perfect, after 50 years as a have not province, how could you expect it to be? Tyrant , crazy Danny ? Who would you rather have, Yvonne or God forbid, Lorraine?

With comments like that from George and those from Stop the racket I agree that perhaps the Premier needs to refocus Health spending and spend more on dealing with Mental Health Issues. Obviously, there are greater needs than xray machines!

Ned from CB, NL writes: Beverly from NL. You poor gulllible woman. You are typical of many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who think you need a political savior to hold you up. No one person, even the great Danny, is responsible for NL becoming a have province. It is the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people including you and me. Danny Williams just happened to be the one to have the horseshoe up you know where when the oil boom hit. I cannot comment on Yvonne's or Lorainne's abilities to goverm but I suspect both have more honesty in their little finger than Danny has in his whole body. Whadda you think?

Helen from NS writes: Ned I didnt say NL has become a have province because of Danny you misunderstood me.People seem to think that NL has very little or nothing, maybe it did ,it has everything that I look for and many others too.No matter who the big guy is , NL is a have province BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE.THE PEOPLE MADE IT SO.

Phoebe Tilley from NL writes: Beverly it must be from people like you that King Danny gets his popularity. Danny was in the right place at the right time and has benefited from all the hard work and negotiations of previous premiers both PC and Liberal, but listening to him you would think he discoverd the oil himself. Sounds like he has you convinced of that Beverly my dear. Sorry to bust your bubble but really he is not the second coming of Christ as you and others seem to think. He is a ego driven power hungry dictator, all be it an elected dictator. If you refuse to or actually cant see that then thats your problem.

ABCD Anyone But Crazy Danny from NL writes: Please dont let Danny fool you with his look at me how good I am now because there is a by election on the go. Where the hell was he before Taylor and Oram resigned. What are the real reasons they quit? Danny forced them to resign because they disagreed with him and they didnt need to put up with his crap. We all know what happens to anyone who dare to question the almighty Danny Williams. We are either all traitors or haters, The man is a liar and an ego maniac that keeps pumping money our money into the pockets of his close friends and former business partners either with un tendered contracts or plum appointments to high paying government crown corperation jobs. In these by elections we all have a chance to send Danny a clear message. We are all sick of your lies and broken promises. Two seats now and one in the next by election cant change the government but it can tell the little tyrant Williams that we are totally pissed of with him and his one man show. Get out and vote thats very important but for God sake please vote ABCD.

Graham from NL writes: A have province because of the oil and NOT because of anything Danny Williams did. Richard you could have been premier when the oil revenue started coming our way. It was the negotiations and hard work of several past premiers that made all this possible and not the little dictator Danny Williams.

Dave from NL writes: I would gladly trade in Danny for Yvonne or Lorraine. I can't vote in the by-election to get rid of these rotten Tories, but where do I sign up?

I agree with Beverly there is greater need on mental health spending. People have gone crazy in their Danny-mania, that includes 44 politicians. Insane.
