The psychiatric assessment of a Corner Brook man who allegedly pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at a woman in her home last week has been completed, but the man’s lawyer has yet to review it with him.
Nelson Duncan Snooks, 63, was back in provincial court in Corner Brook Thursday afternoon after undergoing the assessment at the Waterford Hospital in St. John’s.
Snooks’ lawyer, Gary Kearney, asked for a day to discuss the report with his client before deciding how to proceed with regards to a bail hearing and the matter has been set over until this morning.
Snooks was charged with four offences, including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and mischief to property. The mischief charge relates to an allegation Snooks wilfully damaged the door of the woman’s property.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had to avail of its police dog to locate Snooks, who had fled the scene by the time police arrived after receiving the complaint. He was located in a wooden structure after a search of a wooded area near where the alleged incident occurred.
