Premier Danny Williams stuck his finger in Stephen Harper's eye again Wednesday when he issued a reminder to the PM about the equalization standoff between Ottawa and this province over resource royalties.
The row has calmed down over the last few weeks and that may have led some to believe maybe, just maybe, some progress on a settlement may have been going on behind the scenes and out of the public scrutiny.
Not so, apparently.
The premier still seems determined to help turf the federal Conservatives from office so he can try to get a better deal for this province from the Liberals.
Loyola Hearn, this province's representative in the federal cabinet, spent much of his time after the closing of the House of Commons handing out cheques big and small.
It was a transparent and meagre attempt to win favour with voters in this province who mostly look at him as standing up for the federal government and selling out this province.
This week's shot over the Conservatives' bow shows one thing for certain - there will be no political ceasefire anytime soon.
