The Off-Broadway Players will be holding open auditions for their production of “Chicago,” which will hit the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre during the third week of November.

Set in prohibition-era Chicago, this musical by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse tells the story of vaudevillian Velma Kelly and chorus girl Roxie Hart who are both on trial for murder. The two ladies use their time in jail to compete for fame, celebrity and the attention of their lawyer, Billy Flynn who turns their trials into a media circus.

Off-Broadway’s production will be directed by Stephen Perchard, with musical direction by Darlene Steeves and choreography by Amy Andrews.

Aside from a cast of actors, singers, and dancers, Off-Broadway is also looking for a creative team of designers (set, lights, sound, props, and costumes) and builders to help bring this show to the stage.

Auditions will be held on Sept. 9.

Anybody who is interested in auditioning for a part can e-mail to book an audition time. Likewise, anybody interested in joining the crew for this show can also contact Perchard.

Anybody who doesn’t want to audition for an actual role, but would like to be involved in the chorus, can attend a chorus meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept.r 9 at Dance Studio West, located at 31 Wellington Street (the old VON building).
