Todd Lawrence and his onboard cookie cutter crew garnered top prize as best float in the McIvers Christmas Parade and Breakfast with Santa celebration on Sunday. The group of eight's winning Ginger Bread House (shown), best-decorated ATV and best costume categories were judged winners by parish priest Rev. Mario Melendez, who had dozens of parade entrants to consider. Santa's rainy-day visit was sponsored by Come Home Year 2017 and the McIvers Community Improvement Club.
As the Deer Lake parade concluded, Santa took a few minutes to stop and greet many of the kids who rode on the floats and were unable to see him as the parade went by. Reese Coles was thrilled to get a treat from Santa and to chat with him for a few minutes. Reese was on the Deer Lake vocal club float and thought she was going to miss seeing Santa.
The Santa Claus parade hosted by the Lions Club in Pasadena was another hit as hundreds lined the streets for the string of floats at night. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were the big hits once again and met with kids of all ages in the Lions Club following the parade route.
